Habib Beye Sacked by Rennes, Expected to Join Marseille
Stade Rennais has announced the dismissal of coach Habib Beye. Club president Arnaud Pouille expressed his surprise regarding the timing of Beye's desire to leave. Pouille noted that Beye's wish to depart emerged on January 4, the day after the team's defeat in the Coupe de France.
Arnaud Pouille described the timing as "strange," given it was just four days before the close of the transfer window, which the club was actively working on, according to his statement. Pouille said: "The only thing that surprised me was his desire to leave the day after the Coupe de France defeat, because we were four days away from the end of the transfer window that we were trying to complete."
In related news, reports indicate that Beye had lost the trust of Stade Rennais management following a series of four consecutive defeats at the start of the year. Habib Beye is expected to sign a contract with Olympique Marseille, with his official presentation anticipated next Thursday.
Olympique Marseille is currently working on organizing the administrative procedures to quickly register the Senegalese coach's signing. Beye is expected to hold a pre-match press conference and conduct training immediately after his presentation.
